Aisling Cliodhnadh O'Sullivan (born 16 March 1984) is better known by her stage name Aisling Bea is an Irish comedian and actress from Ireland. Bea started her professional career with stand-up comedy in the year 2011, following small parts she played for Irish and British television dramas from 2009. Bea began performing frequently on sketch comedy shows and sitcoms in 2012. Following her win during the Edinburgh Comedy Awards, she was booked for a variety of panel shows. She's a member of 8 Out of 10 Cats since 2016 and she is a popular contestant of its sequel 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown. She is the daughter of Brian as well as Helen O'Sullivan. Sinead, her younger sister, was born. She is only the second ever female winner of So You Think You're Funny. The surname she uses is Bea to pay tribute to her late father. Aisling Cliodhnadh was born April 16, 1984, in Kildare Town in County Kildare. She was the daughter of Brian O'Sullivan. Brian was a veterinarian for horses who committed suicide when Bea was just three years old. She wasn't told about how he died until she reached the age of thirteen. As a way to honor the man she loved, Bea took the stage name Bea and in 2017, wrote an article about suicides that affected the family she was raised by for The Guardian. Bea (and her sister Sinead) were brought up in a home by Helen Moloney who was a educator and jockey trainer who was a professional jockey. The family was fascinated by horses and race meetings. Bea began her career as a tourist guide for the Irish National Stud. But she quickly realized that her passion was for acting, not racing.
